The Odyssey

The personality of the legendary ancient Greek poet Homer remains a mystery to this day, but he is considered the author of the greatest monuments of world literature – the "Iliad" and the "Odyssey", which have withstood the test of... time. His poems had a huge influence on world literature, enriched poetry with the canonical meter – dactylic hexameter, and provided material for historians of the customs and morals of that era. The "Odyssey" is a narrative about the adventures of a mythical hero named Odysseus during his return home after the Trojan War, as well as about the fate of his wife Penelope, who awaited her husband in Ithaca. The poem inspired many artists and sculptors to create their immortal masterpieces.
