The Decision on Intervention. Soviet-American Relations, 1918–1920

In the book by American historian and political scientist George Kennan, the reasons for the military invasion of the United States and its allies into Soviet Russia are comprehensively examined, and the consequences of risky diplomatic maneuvers that exacerbated the... confrontation between the two great powers are analyzed. The author meticulously reconstructs the events of 1918-1920: the landing of British marines in Northern Russia, the uprising of the Czechoslovak Legion, the Japanese occupation of the Far East and Transbaikalia, resulting in the decision by the government of W. Wilson to intervene and send troops to Siberia.
