Silence Between Us

Mabel Chen is an American of Chinese-Taiwanese descent. She prefers sweatshirts to dresses and dreams of becoming a writer. And she is not at all the way her mother wants her to be. Her mother cannot name a single reason... to be proud of her only daughter. Mabel's beloved brother, Danny, on the contrary, was accepted to Princeton. But Danny secretly struggles with depression, and when he dies, Mabel's world collapses.
After that, Mabel's parents are bombarded with racist accusations. Her father advises Mabel to stay low, but she decides to challenge stereotypes and express her opinion publicly. The consequences of this action are much more serious than anyone could have anticipated. But Mabel must reclaim her right to tell her own story.
