The Story of the Year

The story by Hans Christian Andersen "The Story of the Year" is very beautiful and lyrical, but little known to the Russian reader. This fairy tale was mostly published in collections and complete works of the great Danish storyteller. At... the publishing house "Nigma," it is released as a separate work, in a gift edition with atmospheric illustrations by artist Anna Hopta.
In September 2019, the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen "Twelve Passengers" with illustrations by Anna Hopta was already released by "Nigma." The book became a bestseller and made it to the top list of the International Intellectual Literature Fair Non/fiction prize. The new release will be a wonderful companion to that edition.

Once an old sparrow noticed that the New Year comes with the arrival of spring. And spring arrives when the storks come. Two storks bring children on their backs - a boy and a girl. The children grow up, and nature comes alive, filling with strength. Flowers bloom, groves turn green, the sun warms the earth... Summer comes, the young man becomes a handsome man, and the girl becomes a beautiful woman, his wife. Fruits swell with juice, and the wheat ears turn yellow... Finally, the forests are dressed in gold, the cold arrives, and the wife of the lord of the year retires. And he himself, now a gray-haired old man, covers the earth with snow and gazes into the distance from a high hill, patiently awaiting the arrival of a new pair...
