The detective players try to figure out what is happening – they do not know who the characters are or what the conditions for victory or defeat are. If the detectives fail to meet the victory conditions, they return to the past and replay the scenario in a new time loop. Players must identify the roles of all characters before they use the allotted number of attempts. Otherwise, they are counted as losing.
