Family traditions in Yasnaya Polyana were guarded by Sofia Andreevna Tolstaya. Her "Cookbook" is a testament to that. The names of the dishes sound like this: apple kvass from Maria Nikolayevna - the younger sister of L.N. Tolstoy; lemon kvass... from Marusya Maklakova - a close acquaintance of the Tolstoy family; apple pastille from Maria Petrovna Fet, and of course, Ankov pie - from the family doctor Bersov-Nikolai Bogdanovich Anke. Tolstaya collected recipes for 162 dishes that the entire large family consumed. Two people recorded the culinary recipes - Sofia Andreevna herself and her younger brother Stepan Andreevich Bers.
