Monoclon

The collection of short prose by Vladimir Sorokin "Monoclon" is written almost in a realistic manner. Events: a shooting in a supermarket, a cleanup in a cottage village, an attack on a veteran of state security under the sounds of... the march of young patriots on Lenin Avenue — take place in familiar decorations and barely step outside the realm of the possible. Delving into the subconscious of a publishing house employee, a veteran, a store director, a governor, the writer explores new social roles in Russia of the 2000s and new shades in relations with the past. Despite attempts to suppress, reshape, or simply forget it, it can become very close, enormous, and monstrous at any moment, like a prehistoric lizard.
