Year 1470. King Edward of York is exiled from England. Queen Elizabeth and her children tremble in fear for their lives in Westminster Abbey. The Lancasters have seized the crown, but the Yorks have not given up the fight. Edward... makes a desperate attempt to regain the throne — he forms an alliance with the ruler of Burgundy, Charles the Bold, and gains command of a small mercenary army and ships.
At the mouth of the Humber River lies the town of Ravenspur, which means "raven's spur." Seventy years ago, another claimant to the English throne, Henry Bolingbroke, the future founder of the Lancaster dynasty, landed there. Edward believes he can replicate his predecessor's success by starting his campaign from this very spot. There is an important basis for such faith: Ravenspur is located on the edge of Yorkshire, his ancestral county. Can one doubt that all Yorkshire towns will willingly throw open their gates to their monarch?
