Odessa Stories

Isaac Emmanuilovich Babel (1894—1940) is a Russian writer, translator, screenwriter, and war correspondent.
"Odessa Stories" by Isaac Babel tells about Odessa and its inhabitants — at the center is a gang of marauders who lived in the Jewish district of Moldavanka,... hyperbolized, almost mythological. The prototypes of the characters Benya Krik, Lyubka Kazak, and Froim Grach were real people — Misha Yaponchik, Sonya Golden Hand, and others.
The stories and other works of Babel presented in this edition are filled with Odessa humor and lightness, easily and organically intertwined with sad, at times touching moments from real life at the beginning of the 20th century.
