Selected Places from Correspondence with Friends

The journalistic collection by N. V. Gogol "Selected Places from Correspondence with Friends" seemingly marked the last period of the writer's life, perhaps at least because it begins with a will. Published by the author, of course not without censorship,... in 1847. The book instantly sparked public response — it was discussed, criticized, evaluated. A sermon and a confession, or perhaps hypocritical lamentation?.. Literary and artistic criticism, relevant correspondence with various known and unknown people?.. However one might characterize the collection, one thing was clear — this is a different Gogol. The edition features an introductory article by Daniil Ryasov, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Senior Researcher at the Moscow Gogol House.
