“Pulp” is Bukowski's last novel, his swan song – it is simply contraindicated for readers without a sense of humor! This is truly a special kind of parody dedicated to “bad literature.” The plot of the book is devoid of... dynamics, devoid of intrigue, devoid of everything, but that is precisely why it is infinitely brilliant. The main virtue of the novel is its narrative style. Descriptions and dialogues are filled with an atmosphere of filth, violence, and fear. At the same time, Bukowski parodies genuine pulp fiction with virtually every sentence. And although the author's style is simplified to the extreme – it’s worth noting the incredible sense of humor that will undoubtedly appeal to readers who possess this sense.
