Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva (1892–1941) — a Russian poetess of the Silver Age, translator, and publicist. A romantic by the structure of her soul, Tsvetaeva did not accept the "organized violence" of poetic schools. Rejecting any structure, she acknowledged only natural... elements and the power of literary language… A turbulent temperament, strong spirit, principled independence, passion, and stylistic uniqueness make her poetry one of the most significant phenomena in the history of Russian literature. The symbolist poet Bryusov wrote about her first collection: "When you read her book, at times it becomes awkward, as if you peeked indiscreetly through a half-closed window into someone else's apartment and caught a glimpse of a scene that outsiders should not see." The same spirit fills the subsequent lines of Tsvetaeva's poems, filled with life and suffering.
