"Hack" is a competitive hardcore game where you will take on the role of experienced hackers who have entered into fierce battle with an influential corporation. At its disposal are incredibly valuable data that draw interest from around the world.... You will attempt to break through enemy defenses, using all your skills, ingenuity, and strategic thinking. Your persona in this digital world is represented by avatars – projections that have managed to bypass the firewall protection. You will have to fight against ice – adversaries who protect the entrance to the database. The game involves a variety of tactics and the development of an effective strategy, and it has several modes.How to play?
Prepare the board and other components. The game consists of rounds that follow one another. A round, in turn, consists of turns: those of the hackers (i.e., you) and the firewall. The gameplay can be divided into phases based on the nature of the actions taken.The hackers' turn is divided into:Action phase, when you can execute everything you planned with your avatar
Configuration phase, when you can prepare your avatar for the next round and optimize your resources
Tracking phase, when you can track, that is, choose a node to later obtain the information stored in it
We will pay special attention to the action phase, as this is the main part of your turn. The following options are available to you: moving with the potential to reveal and activate a new room, attacking, shielding (i.e., defending), configuring (optimizing resources), infecting (placing virus tokens, of which you have a limited number, in database rooms; their number increases your threat level), exiting (disconnecting the avatar from the system), reconnecting, and upgrading (changing characteristics using the corresponding chips and deck). The number of your actions is limited by the value of clicks in the CPU slot, but you can choose the type yourself.
Once the hackers' turn ends, each of you will play an ice activation card for the opponent's side. The enemy's strength and efficiency will increase as the game progresses. Ice comes in different types, each one is dangerous in its own way: bots are the simplest among them, but they can overwhelm by numbers, hunters present a greater danger, and guardians are a kind of boss that appears in later stages. After playing for ice, a new round begins.Your task as hackers is to seize the information that interests you. You will be able to understand which specific data you need thanks to the task card.Who won?
