I and You
“I and You” is an outstanding linguistic study by the Kazakh poet, writer, and cultural expert Olzhas Suleimenov, first published in 1975. In this book, the author refers to the monument of ancient Russian literature “The Tale of Igor's Campaign,”... analyzing the history of its emergence, the grammatical and semantic structure of its language. Suleimenov puts forward a hypothesis that the lexical structure and images of “The Tale...” contain influences from Turkic cultural elements, which allows for a new perspective on many dark places in the work, as well as the role of Turkic peoples in the history of Ancient Rus as a whole.
