Visiting the Turks. Under the Southern Skies

Nikolai Alexandrovich Leikin — once a famous St. Petersburg writer and humorist, journalist, and publisher. One of Leikin's most famous works is "Our People Abroad," a funny narrative about the travels of merchant Nikolai Ivanovich Ivanov and his wife Glafira... Semyonovna, about amusing adventures and all sorts of misunderstandings that happen to the heroes in foreign lands. The book was so well received by readers that Leikin wrote several sequels. In the current volume, the third and fourth (final) parts of the cycle are published.
The couple, already experienced travelers, first set off for Turkey, and on their way to Istanbul, they visit the "Slavic lands" and spend several days in Belgrade and Sofia. Then the merchant couple decides to take a trip to the French resort of Biarritz, and from there — to Madrid, the capital of Spain. They are awaited by new acquaintances, meetings, pleasant entertainments — and real challenges. They will even end up in the newspaper chronicles! Leikin humorously depicts compatriots getting acquainted with foreign history and culture, making many discoveries for themselves, but invariably longing for Russian tea-drinking with a samovar while abroad.
