According to an internet survey conducted in 1999, Karl Marx was named the greatest thinker of the millennium. More scientific works are dedicated to Marx than to any other person. In 2009, in a global survey, Marx ranked 30th among... the most outstanding writers in the history of humanity, surpassing W. Shakespeare by 20 positions and the Bible by 11. The main work of the great German theorist — "Capital" has had such a remarkable impact on the development of scientific thought that in 2013, by the decision of UNESCO, the first volume of "Capital", along with the work of K. Marx and F. Engels "The Communist Manifesto", was included in the list of printed publications of world significance — "Memory of the World". Russia became not only the country where the first foreign edition of "Capital" was published, but also the most fertile ground for the mass dissemination, modernization of the teachings, and social experiments in realizing the ideas of the German theorist. There were more translations into Russian than into any other European language. Just 100 years ago, there arose an acute need for a summary of all volumes of this monumental work, which numbers nearly 2000 pages. In 1924, an attempt was made in Soviet Russia to gather the best foreign and pre-revolutionary Russian presentations of each of the four volumes into one edition, where the provisions of this complex work are outlined by outstanding figures of Marxism, theorists, and practitioners of the struggle for the liberation of workers of all countries. On the 100th anniversary of this rare publication in the Russian publishing industry, we present it to the modern reader.
