"The Picture of Dorian Gray" is the most successful novel by the Irish writer Oscar Wilde. The work was first published in 1890, however, the issues of morality and ethics raised by the author are still relevant today. Dorian Gray,... a young man with an attractive appearance, becomes the muse of the artist Basil Hallward. One day, Basil introduces Dorian to Lord Henry Wotton, whose hedonistic views have a strong influence on the young man. The young aristocrat begins to ponder the temporality of youth and beauty. The portrait painted by Basil appears to Dorian as a symbol of eternal youth. The text of the work is shortened and adapted for B1 level.
