Notes from Underground. Novels and Short Stories

This collection includes novellas and short stories by F. M. Dostoevsky from different years. Among them are such canonical works as "Netochka Nezvanova", "The Village of Stepanchikovo and Its Inhabitants", "Auntie’s Dream", "The Eternal Husband", as well as "Notes from... Underground" — the "quintessence of Dostoevskyness", according to the biased but apt definition of V. Nabokov, a work in which the main themes and intonations of the author of the "great pentateuch" are vividly presented. The edition also includes lesser-known early works of Dostoevsky, which still barely hint at the author of "Crime and Punishment" and "The Brothers Karamazov". However, even in them, the talent of a powerful and original writer is already evident, whose works are filled with compassion and deep sympathy for the trampled, ridiculous, wretched, yet not having lost human dignity people.
