Eugene Onegin

The novel in verse "Eugene Onegin" is the most famous and significant work of A. S. Pushkin, the pinnacle of Russian poetry and the subject of numerous studies. Pushkin began writing the novel in May 1823 and completed it only... in the autumn of 1831, when the "Letter of Onegin to Tatiana" was created. In the autumn of 1823, he informed his friends: "...I am now writing not a novel, but a novel in verse — a devilish difference..."
