I Can't Remain Silent. The Mysterious Phenomenon

Impressed by the mass repression against peasants, the great Russian writer and thinker turned to the theme of violence by the state and the just social order. Criticizing the official position of the Russian Orthodox Church, L.N. Tolstoy addresses the roots of Christianity, the text of the Gospels, convincingly demonstrating the harmfulness of violating basic ethical and religious norms by those in power for the purpose of establishing an illusory "public tranquility".
