Every... time a person commits a soul offense, their soul is taken by the nephalem while their physical body lies on the ground. Sin stains the soul, and the nephalem cut away the affected area so the person can continue living. However, the soul cannot be cut infinitely — one day the blow of sin will be irreversible, and the person will never awaken again. Jack and Dailey are nephalem working in the Department of Particularly Important Souls. One working day, Jack encounters a person who remembers their visit to the realm of the nephalem. Intrigued by the person's identity, Jack and Dailey delve into the secrets and mysteries of their own world. Why is distrust of the Council of Three growing? What books are kept in the closed section of the library? And what choice must the main characters make?
