It was written in 1942-1943 for the Moscow Art Theater, and the plot is based on a West Slavic legend. A beloved fairy tale-play ‘Twelve Months’ about a kind-hearted girl who met twelve brothers-months in the forest still graces the stages of theaters across the country, and there is also an animated film based on it.
