Lindley, a British aristocrat, diplomat, and prominent figure in the Anglican Church, was known for his passion... for the supernatural. Throughout his life, he gathered testimonies of encounters with ghosts and other unexplained phenomena, recounted to him by prominent lords and ladies, squires, and reverend fathers, virtuous maids, and butlers. Over time, these frightening stories formed a whole book - a true anthology of fears and beliefs from the late Victorian era.
