The local forest is buzzing with life: animals dart across the meadows in search of edible plants and insects. Some prefer to hide in the treetops, while others like the lush underbrush and feel comfortable only in the shade of...
trees. In the board game "Mixed Forest", you will need to create an ecologically balanced environment for the forest flora and fauna. By planting trees, you can ensure the prosperity of various animals, plants, and mushrooms. But to score the most points, you must pay attention to their preferences: some animals require the presence of related species; others need specific habitats or food sources. At the beginning of the game, each player has six cards depicting various types of trees or forest inhabitants - plants, mushrooms, and animals. The inhabitant cards are divided into two parts, either vertically or horizontally. Each side features different representatives of forest flora and fauna. On their turn, a player can draw two new cards - either randomly from the deck or those displayed openly on the meadow. Alternatively, players can play one card from their hand, paying its cost. In the upper-left corner of each card indicates its price - this is how many additional cards must be discarded from the hand, or rather, played onto the meadow, to plant a new tree in your forest or settle an animal. A tree is the foundation of the forest, so all inhabitants must settle around them. When playing a card with an animal or plant, choose the side you need, and place the other under one of the trees in your forest so that only the desired inhabitant remains visible. Thus, up to four inhabitants can surround a single tree - from above, below, to the left, and to the right of the card. Alternatively, a player can play any card face down - it shows a seedling. This card costs nothing, and you can still settle various inhabitants around it, but this seedling does not belong to any particular type of tree. When playing a card, you can apply the effect specified on it or receive a bonus if you paid its cost with cards of the same type (color). For example, using them allows you to draw or place cards for free, take extra turns, and, of course, earn victory points for collecting combinations.During game setup, three winter cards are shuffled into the bottom of the deck. As soon as the third one is revealed, the game immediately ends, and victory points are counted. The player with the most points is declared the winner. Will your forest have only one or two types of trees, inhabited solely by hares and cute singing birds? Or will it house all sorts of animals and plants? Are there predators in this forest, and do mushrooms grow? It all depends solely on your choices.
