Escape to Tuscany

A small town hidden among the hills of Tuscany, 1944. Stella is only fourteen; she is the youngest member of the local Resistance. She tells no one about her activities, not even her parents. Together with her older brother Achille,... she smuggles messages, supplies, and weapons to the partisans who are hiding in the hills. With each passing day, the threat to the girl grows, but she will wait for the end of the war in 1945. She will wait to disappear. Seventy years later, a budding writer arrives in Tuscany, having escaped from an unsuccessful marriage, from a Scottish gloom, from herself. Tori has a long-standing connection to Florence — she often visited here as a child with her grandmother, and now her escape to Tuscany feels like an escape from her tedious life, but it turns out not to be a farewell to the past, but the beginning of something entirely new. However, first she will have to unravel an old wartime story, at the center of which is the young messenger Stella.
