With the development of psychoanalysis, the famous Austrian psychologist and psychiatrist Sigmund Freud increasingly turned to cultural studies, applying a psychoanalytic approach to the problems of culture and human psychology in its context. This collection includes Freud's main works on... the psychology of culture: among others, the work "The Future of an Illusion," dedicated to the fate of religion in the modern world; the programmatic treatise "The Discomfort of Culture," where Freud discusses the inescapable conflict between man and civilization, which compels any member of society to work and suppress natural impulses — sexual and destructive; "Moses and Monotheism" — the result of Freud's long-standing interest in the personality and myth of the prophet Moses as a central figure in Jewish and Christian mythology; an open letter to Albert Einstein on the nature of war and other works dedicated to the dynamic relationships between culture and its bearers. Some works in this collection are published in a new translation.
