Anya of Green Gables

When red-haired Anya Shirley arrives on Prince Edward Island, she's sure she's finally found the home she's always dreamed of. Anya is an orphan who did not have a childhood, because both in foster families and in an orphanage, she... worked as an adult, no one gave her warmth, her life was still a “cemetery of hopes.” But her new adoptive parents are confused, because they asked for a boy to be sent to them to help them on the farm in Green Gables.
