1982 Soviet scientists are developing a new combat flamethrower system. Western intelligence services manage to recruit one of the participants in the project - scientist Alexei Poplavsky. The KGB becomes aware of this. Sensing danger, the traitor leaves for a... symposium in Germany and remains abroad. A group of Major Mikhail Koltsov is sent to search for the fugitive. Suddenly it turns out that the safe houses on the other side have failed.
