1982 Soviet scientists are developing a new combat flamethrower system. Western intelligence services manage to recruit one of the participants in the project - scientist Alexei Poplavsky. The KGB becomes aware of this. Sensing danger, the traitor leaves for a... symposium in Germany and remains abroad. A group of Major Mikhail Koltsov is sent to search for the fugitive. Suddenly it turns out that the safe houses on the other side have failed. The operatives find themselves in a difficult bind, from which they can only get out of it and successfully complete the task thanks to a non-standard solution...
