We rarely think about how much interesting information passes through our wallets and purses. The minimum information that can be gleaned from a drawing, if a building is depicted on a banknote, includes the time and place of its construction,... the name of the architect, and the circumstances under which it was built. A scene with an animal or a bird is enough to identify their name and species, and to learn where they live. A portrait of a person will allow us to find out everything about their personality, activities, and achievements. Moreover, it will tell us about the era they called their own.
