Mission from Above

"Four people in a previous life made a vow to meet in another life. A terrible vow, a bloody one. Three have already met. They are waiting for you." These words were said to me once by a passing guru... at a Buddhist center I stumbled into out of boredom. I must admit, the guru's words made an impression, no matter how hard I tried to take them with humor. Now I kept catching myself thinking that I was waiting for something. For good changes in my fate? For some event?.. But time passed, and the strange story now caused annoyance and disappointment: deep down, I was counting on an adventure, even when in my heart I called the guru a charlatan. And then one day I received a playing card, the Queen of Hearts, with instructions on the back about the time and place to meet...
