The kingdom of Ogres-Gods is ruled by the descendants of five great families, called "noble-born".... The fate of young Yori is all the more unfortunate. Born among the gods, he remains a bastard: the son of King Elissen and his favored mistress.
After a quarrel with his half-brothers, Yori, along with his mother, is forced to leave the castle and live on the outskirts of the capital.
