The only thing more popular than the adventures of heroes in tights is the confrontation between cops and criminals. This simple truth was understood back in the 40s of the last century, when editor and screenwriter Charles Biro, together with...
editor and artist Bob Wood, launched the comics magazine Crime Does Not Pay. The plots of this series were based on real events and crimes, and therefore instantly attracted the attention of both children and older young people. Interest in the series was reinforced by excellent sales, and soon the circulation of “crimes” increased from 200,000 copies to 5,000,000 copies. The popularity of crime stories in comics has generated not only loyal fans, but also opponents of shocking and sometimes overly violent plots. As a result, mass hysteria led to the emergence of strict censorship known as the Comics Code. Due to severe prohibitions, the comic book series "Crime Does Not Pay" had to be closed in 1955.
This anthology includes stories from various sections of the early period of the Crime and Punishment magazine. Read for the first time in Russian!
