The set consists of 2 miniature art books with colorful illustrations and texts about the art of Japan. Japan is a small, mysterious, and not always comprehensible country for Europeans, located on islands. Its geographical location, peculiarities of state policy,... and ancient traditions of the people have led to its isolation from other countries. Because of this, the culture and art of Japan have acquired distinctly unique features, possessing a special allure in printmaking and painting. Japanese painting is one of the oldest and most remarkable forms of creativity. Like any other, it has a long history, representing a lengthy journey of rivalry and intertwining of indigenous Japanese principles, adaptations of foreign ideas, and changes in schools and styles. This includes Yamato-e and Sumi-e, as well as one of the most popular directions in Japanese visual art during the Edo period – Ukiyo-e woodblock printing. It includes a whole array of famous masters such as: Kano Eitoku, Kano Sanraku, Toyo Sesshu, Hishikawa Moronobu, and Utamaro Kitta.
