Welcome to the Northern Latitudes — a little-explored and deadly dangerous place. These lands may seem like paradise, but do not let the whispers of the green forests and the splashes of fish in the lakes deceive you! The foggy... swamps and dark thickets hide a threat you have not yet encountered. The hunt has begun — but who is the prey here, you will soon find out. Beast is an asymmetric confrontation in the genre of "one against all," where the enemy can be everywhere, and the tension builds with every turn. Mighty creatures pose a threat to human settlements — and only fearless hunters can protect people from deadly fangs, claws, and magical powers bestowed by nature. But will they manage to track down and eliminate the Beast before it strikes? What the game is about One of the players will become the Beast — a fierce and powerful creature possessing ancient magical power. The others will take on the roles of brave Hunters — protectors of the human world. Who will win this tense struggle depends only on you and your ability to hide. To seek traces and coolly calculate the opponent's intentions. Unlike many games in its genre, in "Beast," the emphasis shifts: here you will find slightly less of the hidden movement and much more tactical and strategic decisions. The monster aims to hide and confuse its tracks with every turn, but for the most part, you at least have a rough idea of where it is. The real question is how to prevent it from achieving its goal and to eliminate the monster before it destroys you! To do this, you will have to skillfully manage action cards, utilize your strengths and weaknesses, and make numerous joint decisions. Game Features One against all! Hunters will have to learn to work as a team and wisely use each other's strengths and weaknesses — otherwise, the Beast cannot be stopped. Hidden movement The Beast moves secretly using special cards, so the Hunters do not know where it is, but can track it down and corner it, forcing it to reveal itself. However, care must be taken, as the Beast knows very well where its opponents are — which means it can attack at any moment! Scenarios with unique goals "Beast" offers several different scenarios — two for four players, and two for two to three players. The scenarios in the game are not narrative — they introduce unique starting conditions and unique goals that must be achieved for victory. This means you can choose different winning conditions in different matches — for instance, the Hunters don’t always need to kill the Beast, sometimes they will need to guard valuable cargo from it! Moreover, the creators promise to create a separate website with custom and fan-made scenarios. How to play A match in "Beast" consists of several rounds, the number of which is determined by the chosen scenario. Each round is divided into three phases — Morning, Day, and Night. Morning Preparation phase. Each player (both Hunters and the Beast) receives the required number of action cards, selects one, and passes the others around. And so it goes until everyone has passed their last remaining card to their neighbor. Each action card consists of two effects — the effect for the Hunters and the effect for the Beast. When choosing cards, it’s important to look at both so as not only to take a useful card for yourself but also not to give a particularly important effect to the opponent. Hunters can show each other their cards and discuss their decisions. Day Action phase. Starting with the Beast and then moving clockwise, each player selects one of three options: take actions, flee, pass Take actions — by choosing this option, you can play one or two cards from your hand. Note that you can only play one card of each color per turn! Flee — by choosing this option, discard any one card from your hand and move one step. Pass — by choosing this option, skip your turn. If the turn comes back to you, you can again take actions. Night If all players pass one after another, the Day will end and Night will come — a time when Hunters can rest by the fire, and the Beast can in its den in the thicket. This is the phase of refreshing and gaining bonuses. The scenario not only offers you a final goal — it also sets micro-goals for each game round. At night, you check whether you have managed to achieve them, and you receive rewards. Additionally, it is at night that you can level up your hero by using previously gained experience, becoming even more dangerous! The Beast's task is to achieve its goal before the last Night comes. The Hunters' task is to kill the Beast or prevent it from achieving its goal. However, in one of the scenarios, the Hunters have a new victory condition — but let's not reveal all the secrets too soon.
