In the entire history of world philosophy, there are not many thinkers who can be compared to Confucius (6th–5th century BCE). The legendary great Teacher, an undisputed authority for the Chinese philosophical tradition, he has long since transcended its rather... loose confines. The legacy of Confucius, if we set aside the mass of dubious and clearly attributed texts, is quite succinct. The Book of Sayings "Lunyu", recorded by Confucius's students, is among the most undisputed works of the famous philosopher.

Until recently, more was heard about Confucius than read, which is why our edition of "Lunyu" is supplemented with the works of Confucius's students, as well as extensive commentary and biographical explanations accumulated over the last two thousand years.
