"The Book of Thoth" by Aleister Crowley is a fundamental work written by one of the greatest magicians and tarotologists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The tarot system is considered in close connection with other occult disciplines,...
as well as with the mythological, religious, and philosophical views that influenced its formation.
This book is conceived as a detailed guide to the "Thoth Tarot" deck, created by Aleister Crowley in collaboration with artist Frieda Harris. Deeply exploring the symbolism of each card, Crowley reveals, first and foremost, its esoteric meaning, focusing not so much on the divinatory as on the philosophical aspects of the tarot. The book contains numerous illustrations (including reproductions of all the cards from the "Thoth Tarot" deck), a preface dedicated to the history of the creation of the book and the "Thoth Tarot" deck, and a number of supplementary materials that present excerpts from other works by Crowley and surviving fragments of correspondence between Aleister Crowley and Frieda Harris.
This edition of "The Book of Thoth" includes all the appendices that were part of the original 1944 edition and subsequent reprints of this book in English.
