The book presents a colorful yet harmonious picture of contemporary Croatian literature to the Russian-speaking reader.
It includes works from the so-called new Croatian prose of the 1990s from the anthology "22 in the Shadow," which brought together twenty-two then quite... young and talented authors, many of whom today have a reputation as undeniable masters of the word. Also included are texts from representatives of an older generation, well-known not only in Croatia but also in Europe. The writers have different viewpoints, different narrative styles, and they use various techniques to express their ideas and observations. Yet within these vivid prose fragments of the "Croatian mosaic," common issues of European literature and humanity as a whole are refracted.
