The Daughter of Time

“The Daughter of Time” is the most famous novel by Josephine Tey. The Detection Club officially considers it the greatest English detective story. Can a bed-ridden inspector from Scotland Yard solve a murder that occurred almost five hundred years ago?... Alan Grant lies in a hospital with a broken leg and, out of boredom, decides to unravel the mystery of the most convoluted crime of medieval England — the deaths of two little princes — for which the usurper king and the hunchback monster from children's tales, Richard III, are accused. The detective tries to figure out whether the king was as monstrous as portrayed by Shakespeare and Thomas More. Like a true policeman, he begins his investigation with the question: who benefited from the murder of Richard III’s nephews?
