Atonement

Ian McEwan is one of the authors of the "ruling triumvirate" of modern British prose. The winner of the Booker Prize. The novel "Atonement" brought the author worldwide fame, and a film of the same name was made based on... it, starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. The adaptation won an Oscar and a Golden Globe. 13-year-old Briony bids farewell to her childhood. Her stories with naive plots fade into the past. They will be replaced by a story from the world of adults. Scene #1, glimpsed from the window: the older sister undresses before neighbor Robbie and dives into the fountain. Ominous Scene #2: Robbie holds the sister in a dark corner of the library. Scene #3, interrupted by an unexpected appearance: the rape of a cousin. Briony is consumed by this story.
