Today in the city is a special day — the Turtle is turning 100 years old! The Elephant wants to throw a real celebration for her and together celebrate this joyful event. The Baby Elephant volunteers to help his mom... because he is already big! Mother Elephant gives her son a whole list of tasks: pick up a box of matches from the Lion, buy a chocolate bar, two eggs, one hundred candles for the birthday cake, ten balloons, and most importantly — a gift, a watch for the Turtle! Excited, the Baby Elephant runs to complete his mother's errands. But alas, something constantly distracts him and delays him. He eats almost all the chocolate on the way; jumps with friends over a skipping rope and breaks the eggs; falls into a stream and loses the list; buys ten candles instead of one hundred; lets all the balloons go into the sky. And more... he is late to the gift shop. Horribly upset, he returns home. And admits to his mom that he didn’t complete any of her tasks. He is very worried that he left the birthday girl without a gift and let his mom down so much. However, Mother Elephant explains to her son that he didn't disappoint her but actually made her happy. After all, the main thing is not the cake with candles nor the gift. What matters most is that the Baby Elephant didn’t turn a blind eye to someone else's trouble and helped the little Suricata find his mom.The author of this picture book, Susanna Isern, a practicing psychologist and mother of three children, knows very well how important it is to develop emotional intelligence in a person from an early age. All her stories teach children to understand themselves, their feelings, build relationships with other people, and ultimately become happy. That's why the writer's books are published in different languages, and parents around the world enjoy reading them to their children. The book is written in simple language, making it easy for a 3-5 year old child to perceive it aloud. While listening, they can look at the lovely pictures filled with many interesting details by the Spanish artist Marta Cabrol. The books in the "For the Little Ones" series are liked by curious toddlers aged three to five and by adults who appreciate good illustrations and love discussing what they read with children.
