“Illusion,” the first book of the trilogy, introduced readers to a world created from underground shelters and the atmosphere within them. The second book, “Change,” told the story of the creation of these structures. “Dust,” the book that concludes the... trilogy, will tell of their fall. For a new world to begin, the old world must fall. Juliette, now the mayor of the Eighteenth shelter, does not trust the First shelter, from which the others are managed. She particularly despises the head of the First, Donald. But in a world comprised of shelters, there is no black and white—everything here is in shades of gray. And perhaps Donald is not the terrifying heartless monster that Juliette imagines him to be, but rather that lucky chance on the path to the survival of humanity.
