Vicente Blasco Ibáñez (1867-1928) was the leading Spanish writer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The film adaptation brought great popularity to the novel, in which Greta Garbo played the role of Elena. Thanks to this role, the Snow Queen from Sweden achieved fantastic success and the persona of a femme fatale, a fatal woman, a vamp woman.
