Over forty illustrations and design elements by Yuri Annenkov for the poem Twelve and an article about Alexander Blok. The poem was written under the influence of the events of the October Revolution, became one of the most discussed works of its time, and was received ambiguously by society. Its ambivalence provoked criticism from both opponents and supporters of the revolution. However, there were also those who received the poem positively. Among them were Sergei Yesenin, Osip Mandelstam, and other writers. Yuri Annenkov was an avant-garde artist, painter, graphic artist, and writer, known by the pseudonym Boris Temiryazev. The artist studied under masters such as Savely Zeidenberg, Yan Tsionglyinsky, Felix Vallotton, and Maurice Denis. Annenkov was multi-talented: he created portraits of iconic figures of the Silver Age, illustrated books and magazine covers, wrote articles, memoirs, and literary works. Towards the end of his life, he became interested in theater and cinema: he designed theatrical scenery and drew costume sketches. Contemporaries noted the psychological depth of Annenkov's works. The artist gained wide recognition and popularity among artists and writers of his time after the publication of Blok's poem Twelve with his illustrations.
