We present to our readers two revolutionary works for their time - “Experimental Psychology and Its Influence on Culture” and “The Development of Mental Potential” - by American psychologist George Malcolm Stratton, a pioneer in the study of human perception... of the surrounding world. It was Stratton who invented the optical device known as the Invertoscope (glasses that invert the visual field) in 1896, which is still actively used in psychological experiments. In the book “Experimental Psychology,” connections between psychology, perception, and cultural development are explored. According to the author, traditional ways of seeing the world are shaped by physiological and psychological processes in the human brain and mind, while new forms of education and art can change these processes and lead to a new way of life. The author's second work, “The Development of Mental Potential,” logically follows from the first, serving as its continuation and development.
