We present to the attention of lovers of English classical literature the book by the younger of the Brontë sisters. "Agnes Grey" is a largely autobiographical novel, based on the personal impressions and experiences of the author: Anne Brontë, who,... like her heroine Agnes, worked as a governess. In the 1840s, England saw a plethora of women novelists of varying degrees of talent, often publishing anonymously or under pseudonyms.
