On April 26, 1986, at 01:23, an explosion occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant near the city of Pripyat, which destroyed the fourth reactor block. It resulted in radioactive contamination of vast territories. The disaster caused irreparable harm to... the ecology, destroyed the lives of thousands of people, and forever changed millions of fates. The residents of Pripyat and nearby villages were evacuated. Many believe that the Chernobyl exclusion zone is now a dead territory. This is not the case. In the exclusion zone, the 38th year is filled with its own post-accident life, where its own laws and rules apply. I managed to visit there and touch upon history. Most importantly – to see with my own eyes what is happening there. The clock on the wall of the reactor block shows 1:23 yesterday, today, and tomorrow. And, if it were possible to turn back time and change something, it would surely be changed. But the clock has stopped, and time and people cannot be returned. Only one thing remains – to remember. My name is Dmitry. Since 2011, I have been interested in industrial tourism and studying abandoned places. The book features my photographs taken in various corners of the Chernobyl zone. Photographs of a peculiar post-apocalyptic world that continues to exist and surprises with its mystery.
