Unknown Kafka. Working Notebooks. Letters

From 1910 and almost until his death, the Austrian writer of Jewish descent Franz Kafka (1883–1924) kept diaries – twelve large in-quarto notebooks. However, in 1917–1919, Kafka left them and focused exclusively on his creative notebooks. Eight small blue in-octavo... notebooks contain the artist's sketches: well-defined genre fragments – short stories, parables, aphorisms – and the initial material of literary ideas, barely processed by creative will, – thoughts and images, "nuggets of imagination," allowing us to see how Kafka's texts originated in his consciousness, or perhaps still only in his subconscious...In this edition, the notebooks, as well as fragments, sketches, and letters of Kafka are published in the translation by G. B. Notkin with notes and remarks by the translator.
