"Random Mutations" is an independent game in the series (90 cards), with fundamentally new rules and updated design. The player now starts the game with three animals. The player's hand has given way to a personal deck, from which he receives...
cards that can become new animals or their properties. Since the cards are played face down, the player's animals have an unpredictable and random set of properties. The dice, in addition to the amount of food per round, also determine the number of shelters that allow you to hide from predators, and the number of parasites that infect animals (if their number in the population is large, animals of certain species - and the concept of a biological species is introduced into the game - will face extinction). Predators in the new version of the game are divided into ordinary and obligate. The latter can survive only by hunting other animals. Dmitry Knorre, ever since the first edition of the basic Evolution set, was concerned that the game was not a fully scientific model of the evolutionary process, since players themselves create animals and decide for themselves what properties to endow them with. Evolution is a process of random changes, mutations, which can be not only positive, but also negative. As a result of natural selection, positive mutations are preserved, but in nature it is the factor of chance that leads to the emergence of new species and the development of organisms. As a result of thinking about how to make the game scientifically consistent and maintain its high replayability, the “Evolution. Random Mutations” set appeared. Game duration: 40-60 minutes
