education in translation, linguistics and law from the University of Montreal.
In 2009, she wowed the Canadian and then international literary scene with her debut novel, Ru, which echoes her story of coming to Canada as a refugee, working, studying, starting a family, and raising an autistic child. Subsequently, Thuy wrote a number of books, including for children, and a culinary collection of her favorite recipes for Vietnamese cuisine. She has also published two works on autism in the non-fiction genre.
Thuy's books have sold over 850,000 copies in total in 40 countries and have been translated into 29 languages. In 2013, she became a Knight of the National Order of Quebec, and in 2023, a Knight of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Awarded the Medal of Honor of the National Assembly of Quebec. He holds honorary doctorates from Bishop University and Concordia University.
Lives in Montreal, where he devotes all his free time to literary activities.
