The young talented artist Troy, the wife of Scotland Yard inspector Roderick Alleyn, was well aware of the rumors surrounding the famous theatrical actor Sir Henry Ancred, whose portrait she was about to paint. But to die under mysterious circumstances... right after a formal dinner – perhaps, this is too extravagant even for a genius of the stage. Troy is absolutely convinced: a murder took place here.
